The 2019 Coaster 50 is coming May 4th! If you figure in the Rat Race, and who doesn’t? This is the 20th year of incredible single track xc racing on the Sunshine Coast.
Same start-finish area and the same great courses you liked last year. Same wonderful food but more beer! Limited free tenting on site. And yes, still only $75 for everything. Discount coupons for the Coast Gravity Park the next day so plan to make a weekend of it.
- 21kms of fine West Sechelt single track, double track, around Phare Lake, and up Frogger before starting the awesome descent down DD, 3D, and 4D. The wonderful view of Sechelt Inlet from the top of Frogger is one of the most photographed of the day.
- The Coaster 50 is of course 50 kilometres giving you the full meal deal of Coast trails including Elevator, Escalator, Millipede, Cabin Fever and Deliverance. Fastest time is 2:20 but mere mortals take twice that long and enjoy the views.
Online through CCN and will open Jan 1st 2019. $75 per person. Includes post race meal, beer and a beer glass. Walk-ins will be charged an extra $20 and only if we have room.
Limited free tenting on site – check with us ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
In honour of our 20th year, we will put the date on our free beer glasses!
Tapworks will be brewing up Coaster Ale again which will be filling up your free glass. This is a limited edition brew and will not be available after the race! Some prizes will consist of growlettes with coupons inside.
Greg Petula is on board again to feed you after the race. Let us know if you’re a vegetarian on your registration.
Yes we always recognize the local racers so special prizing is back! Local sponsors are donating again.
We are starting an hour later this year but if youre coming up from Vancouver on race day you will still need to be at Horseshoe Bay terminal by 6:30am for the first boat. Reservations are advisable.
Follow Hwy 101 through Sechelt and turn right up Norwest Bay Road. Right again on Mason Road and go right to the top beyond the blacktop. Our parking assistants will direct you from there. Please do not block the local driveways – we have to live here year round!
Unlike some other races we will recognize the top 5 males and females in the xcm regardless of whether they hold a Pro license.
You must be insured to race so that means you either hold a Cycling BC license, or you must purchase a one day license when you register. This is also on the CCN site.
The Porpoise Bay provincial campsite in Sechelt is close by and if you have a big trailer or RV we recommend you book ahead.
Up the Creek Hostel in Roberts Creek is a long time sponsor of this event and offer deals to our racers.
If you must bring your dog to the event please keep it on a leash. Loose dogs and fast bikes do not go well together.
