Sponsors, Racers, Community Partners and Volunteers – As you are likely aware, the circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic have recently intensified. The Province has issued a public statement directing event organizers to cancel all events over 50 people. The Coast 50 2020 race has not yet incurred significant expenses (merchandise, race plates, facility rental fees, food and beverage, etc.). Therefore, the organizing committee is currently in a position where we can cancel the event and provide refunds, without taking a significant financial hit. This is important because the profits from this event go to the Sunshine Coast United Mountain Bikers who maintain our trails, Sunshine Coast Search & Rescue, and the local high school mountain bike teams.
Given the current pandemic and associated government direction, and also how the situation has unfolded globally, the Coaster 50 has decided to cancel this year’s event until further notice.
While we are sad to see the event cancelled despite our efforts to date, we feel we must do our part to ensure the health and safety of our community is protected. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all of you for your continued support of the Coaster 50 — without you, the event would not be possible.
Please note that due to the cancellation, all racer entry fees and sponsorships will be refunded. As we are volunteers, we kindly ask for your patience while we work through this process. We will connect with you in the future should the situation change.
In the meantime, feel free to email us if you have any questions.
