From Howe Sound to Desolation Sound, the Sunshine Coast offers visitors the very best in coastal adventure, cultural experience and holistic rejuvenation. Spring into action and discover BC's best kept secret. Hike the 180 km renowned Sunshine Coast Trail where you can go from ocean shore to mountain ridge to lakeside and explore the majestic old-growth forest. Ride where the pros ride with biking trails suitable for all experience levels. Relax and refresh at one of our many spas or revive your spirit with yoga on the beach. All this within a short ferry ride from the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island.  Visit www.sunshinecoastcanada.com for special deals and promotions, making staying here an easy and affordable getaway.
Although we have our course cleared and marked for the XC race on May 5th, we now find active logging up around the old cabin at the northwest corner of the course.   Please be careful when preriding;  you may have to detour around that area.  We have been assured that the race will be able to go through on May 5th.
We now have the crosscountry race map for you and the course is marked and ready for pre-riding.  The 'Cutoff' marked on the map, the bottom of the Upper Tube,  is also where you would turn left rather than right if you want to do the Short Course.

MORE PRIZES!
A generous donation from local Pro racer Kris Sneddon means cash purses for 1st non-Pro male and female with a Sunshine Coast address across the finish line in both the Marathon and Short XC course.  Thanks Kris!
The 'Coaster' coasters featuring the wacky art of local rider Sa Boothroyd will be distributed at random on the course. Each has a dollar value on the back which you can collect at the finish - and you get to keep the coaster too!
Access to the race site:
Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale.  You'll need to be there by 7am to make the race start.  You can take the bus from the ferry but beware the bike racks only take 2 bikes.  If you're up for it you can ride to the race site (about 15kms).
From Langdale drive towards Roberts Creek.  Look out for our "Mountain Bike Race 1kms sign"  then make a right turn up the B&K logging road.  Go 1km and turn right at the powerlines where our friendly volunteers will help you find a parking spot.
Our friends coming down from Powell River should take the second left after the traffic lights in Roberts Creek.
There will be a race sign at the foot of the B&K logging road.

Camping:
There is camping close by at both the BC Parks Roberts Creek site about 5 mins drive towards Sechelt and also at the Creekside Campground next to the IGA in Wilson Creek.  Please do not plan to park your large trailers at the race site - they take up 6 parking spots and you will be asked to move.  We just don't have the room.

Accommodation:
Please check out Upthecreek hostel in Roberts Creek and also the Cedars Inn in Gibsons, both long time race sponsors.  They are both offering discounts to racers.

BBQ
We see the return of the popular salmon bbq hosted by our friends the Sunshine Coast Equestrian Centre.  This is a fundraiser for them and as they give us the use of their corrals for our race, we ask that you support them.  The optional $15 bbq is available to you and your friends on the website but you must order this by May 1st.
Another successful Coaster comes to a close.  Over 200 racers on Saturday for the crosscountry races, and another 200 on Sunday.  Great weather, great racing, great food.  We welcome your feedback both positive and negative so we can improve next year.  Enjoy the rest of the racing season, we'll see you May 2013.
